Kirk Value Planners - Dr. Stephen J. Kirk

Stephen J. Kirk - Partner, CEO

Stephen J. Kirk is Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Kirk Value Planners, which specializes in providing comprehensive facility economics, value planning, education, and value management services. He has over 25 years’ experience in applying value based design decision-making techniques to projects of all sizes in 5 continents. He is an instructor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Dr. Kirk is a registered architect, a Fellow of the AIA, a Fellow of SAVE International, CVS-Life, and is a “LEED Accredited Professional.” Steve is a Senior Fulbright Scholar in architecture and received his doctorate degree at the University of Michigan. He served as president of SAVE International in 1998-99, is Director and Vice President of Education for the Miles Value Foundation. He has also served on the Industry Advisory Panel of the US State Dept. Overseas Building Office. He is the author/co-author of eight books related to value analysis. Recently, Dr. Kirk was given the Gold Award by the Engineering Society of Detroit.

Stephen E. Garrett - Partner, COO

Stephen E. Garrett is a Partner and Chief Operating Office of Kirk Value Planners, which specializes in providing comprehensive facility economics, value planning, education, and value management services. Steve has over 20 years of professional experience including extensive skills in value based decision making, cost estimating, scheduling, quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC), strategic planning, project criteria development, and program management for large, complex projects for national and international clients. As partner, he typically leads highly skilled, multi-discipline teams in generating strategies and recommendations for projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to billions on 4 continents. He is also skilled in life cycle costing his experience includes office, government, manufacturing, institutional, health care, education, and laboratory facilities. Steve received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Lawrence Technological University. He is a Certified Value Specialist (CVS), has been a member of SAVE International for over 10 years, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Michigan Chapter. Steve has also taught or served as guest instructor at Lawrence Technological University and the University of Michigan. He is the author/co-author of many value related published articles and has presented to audiences internationally.
